The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office is growing its staff and promoting personnel. Bladen County Sheriff’s Deputy Sheila Stephens organized an Oath of Office Ceremony held on August 15, 2022. Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker was pleased to recognize staff members at his office.
Clerk of Superior Court, Niki Dennis, swore in nine new staff members during the ceremony, and one Deputy received a promotion.
Aspen Noel Batten, Amy Callihan Brown, and Jeffery Lynn Singletary, Jr. took the oath as Telecommunicators. Justin Tyler Holmes was sworn in as a Detention Center Officer, Tony Lee Romero-Hernandez was sworn in as a Detention Center Officer and a Deputy Sheriff.
Timothy Alan Everette and David Micahel Kidd took oaths as Deputy Sheriff -School Resource Officers. Ashleigh Wilson Meares and Jessica Kelly Smith were sworn in as Deputy Sheriffs for the Courthouse.
After administering the Oath of Office to each staff member, Dennis commented, “Things have changed in this world, and we need protection. I think we have a good group here at this Sheriff’s Department. They have the best interest of the people in the county, first and foremost in their heart.”
Before the ceremony concluded, Deputy Linda B. Jacobs, a School Resource Officer, was promoted to Corporal by First Sergeant James Monroe and Sheriff McVicker.
First Sergeant Monroe stated, “Corporal Jacobs deserves this promotion.”
Sheriff McVicker, in closing, took a moment to thank the county commissioners for the budget approvals this year. Commissioner Cameron McGill was present during the ceremony. “Thank you, Cameron McGill and all the other Bladen County Commissioners, for your support this year,” Sheriff McVicker said. “This has been the smoothest year to work with the commissioners, and I appreciate it.”
Before family and friends gathered to celebrate with the newly sworn-in staff members, Chaplain Warren Hill gave a blessing for the occasion and the refreshments.
