Bladenboro Middle Betas have strong showing at Nationals

Bladenboro middle schoolThe Bladenboro Middle School Betas had a successful trip to the National Junior Beta Club Convention in New Orleans. 

Polly Hancock who traveled with the group said that in order to be eligible to attend the national convention, you must place at the state convention.

Hancock  said that the club placed fifth in sculpture and fourth in T-shirt at nationals. At the state convention, both projects placed first.

Cadee Bryan took her sculpture which had placed first at the state Junior National Beta Club.

“The T-shirt was a club project there were three main students involved,” said Hancock.

She said they were Catie Guyton, Joshua Benson and Kasee Singletary.

Hancock said that 13,000 people were in attendance at the convention and 13 different states were represented.

Autumn Brisson from the Clarkton School of Discovery also traveled to New Orleans with the team but she did not place at the national convention.

Hancock said there were nine students total that traveled to the convention. She said the national convention began on Thursday and ended on Sunday.  Hancock said the students attended a session each day.

Hancock said former Bladen County Schools Superintendent Kenneth Dinkins presided over the convention.
